In 1927 Verein Kanusport Dresden e.V., represented by
the chairman Kurt Oggel, leased the property to the left and right of
the path going from Wehlen to Rathen, at the end of the town Stadt
Wehlen. This contract got renewed in 1994. The address Hofewiese 20,
right before Elbe-km 25, became well known to paddlers from Germany and
abroad within the last 70 years.
Not counted are the various adventures & experiences of
our club members and their children of many generations in sports and
fun, hiking in the Saxon & Bohemian Switzerland, at the mid-summer
festivals and at/in the river Elbe, many campfires accompanied by songs
and good drinks.
Canoe trips of our and our friends’ canoe clubs and the
canoe association often stopped or took a rest at our beautiful canoe
station. For members, who have come regularly to this camping site for
vacation during summer time, Hofewiese 20 – at the edge of the National
Park - became an important part of their life.
