Paddling is not (allowed to) be the only thing!
Canoeing like skiing is a seasonal sport. With one
exception only. The “extreme paddlers” also use winters for paddling.
Most of our active members usually use snow, ice or other things for
doing sports during winter time. For our canoe club it is a hard time of
the year because many members don’t come to the boat house so often and
other sports or activities might get more important.
Our exceptional location - directly at the Elbe cycling
path, not far from the Blue Wonder Elbe Bridge - is an ideal start for
biking, skating or jogging.
When it is too slippery outside or who doesn’t like to pay more money
for a health club, visits our fitness area.
The equipment was bought for the canoeist’s demand. You don’t find any
home trainers or treadmills. Instead our fitness room is used to built
up muscles mostly. Cycling or jogging can be done outside.
New since/from 2004
We are renovating, modifying part of our boat house and
bought already equipment for more attractive visits to the boat house
during winter time.
Our fitness room is equipped with brand-new sport utensils which were
optimised and expanded.
Our outdoor sports field has a new fence, so that close by traffic can’t
get disturbed by us or disturbing us. We bought new hockey goals,
baskets for basketball, integrated equipment to play volleyball and
tennis.
To round off the offered activities we decided to add a Finnish sauna at
our canoe club.
Right now we realise or still plan some investments. Our goal is to have
everything finished by next winter.
