Paddlers on the Elbe river like to spend the night at VKD Canoe Station
As the oldest canoe club in Dresden we are well known by many paddlers and our name is often asked for when paddlers look for a campground.
The ones joining the annual ICF-Elbe-River-Tour from Schmilka, in the Saxon Switzerland, all the way to Hamburg, get to know our boat house in Dresden with its campground first. Our guests quickly reach the public transportation system and easily reach the city center to enjoy our beautiful town.
For friends of hiking and climbing we need to mention
the Saxon Switzerland in a special way. The unique and bizarre landscape
was a good reason for the founders of our club already to rent the
»campground Wehlen«
for paddlers in 1927.
Now after the big flood of 2002, when the river destroyed everything, we
can offer new possibilities staying overnight in our
»new cabin« – thanks
to all the donations and financial help from the state. Even on rainy
days the atmosphere is bright when sleeping in the attic of our cabin
while the tent can be put back into the boat without getting wet.
For the ones of you that have no chance to take part in one of the organized Elbe-River-Tours we worked on a little brochure »Canoe Experience on the Upper river Elbe«. giving you recommendations for your trip. We hope to give you a new idea for your next excursion with your sports club or school class.
